If you recall, I posted a couple of weeks ago about winning a contract from the Greater Dayton Regional Transit Authority to create a holiday promotion for one of their bus routes.
Well, the briefing was Nov 8 — less then two weeks ago — and since then I've had to produce: • A campaign of 3 newspaper inserts • A campaign of 6 half and full page newspaper ads • 2 brochures • A dozen :15 and :30 radio and on-bus audio spots • Exterior bus posters • Web banners • Develop a sweepstakes • Negotiate with all the media and production companies • Plan/Engineer a live event scheduled for Dec 4 at a Sam's Club on the route • Sign up dozens of businesses along the route as promotional partners • In the midst of writing Tweets and Facebook posts (at least 2 a day needed for the 41 days of the promo)
This is on top of a half dozen TV spots and several direct mail packages for one of my busier retail clients!
I've been averaging no more than 4 hours of sleep per day for the past 12 days, and I'm forcing myself to take a short break today.
But boy-howdy, am I having FUN!
Will post some of the work in a week or two — when I can crawl out from under this here bus.
No problems with that kind of stuff. They're pretty responsive and easy to work with. If I have one gripe, it's that the assignment was initiated a month or more later than is should have been, and it's under-funded by half — and I wouldn't be surprised if one or two of the agencies that received RFPs chose to pass on those grounds. But I was informed that this account has AOR potential, so it's worth the challenges, IMHO.
