Sorry about that dripping. Here, gimme that towel and I'll wipe it up for ya. Seriously, thanks for the compliment.

Attitudes are often relative. And sometimes, people have to make a doozie of a boo-boo (the kind that generates a loud backlash) before they can see for themselves that they were headed in the wrong direction. Even then, the mia culpas may not be forthcoming in words. But sometimes they come in the form of deeds. And that's what's beginning to happen back at MCF. Slowly. But it's happening.

So for now, we'll visit you here. And hopefully Ñ in time Ñ you'll return the favor, and drop by the old 'hood to say hi. Fair enough?

Basically the rule, such as it is, is this: general Mac discussion is allowed, but specific tech questions would be preferred over in the General Discussion area. Thus (for example) a discussion of Motorola's effort, or lack thereof, in improving its microprocessors is fine in the Lounge, but a question about which upgrade card to use for that old beige G3 would be preferred in GD.

As far as Jim's "mistake" is concerned, he did, after all, amend his position and asked for imput (as I can personally attest) about the second change. I do believe he made a mistake, but please point me to someone who has not ever made one; I'd like him as my Prime Minister, or perhaps he could be President, maybe even Pope. The way some people talk, you'd think that Jim Dalrymple eats babies for lunch.

John
[color:red]I don't need no steenkin' signature!

In reply to:

By the way, do MC Lounge Lizards have the specific right to ask MacTech questions in the lounge, or will your post be relocated? I'm not sure I got the final word on that.

My thoughts on this question would be that "yes" you can post whatever you want where ever you want...

You'll probably get an answer in the Lounge, but since there isn't a lot of traffic everywhere else, you'll likely get an answer in the correct forum as well...

And thus, for people that are just looking for an answer to a question, it might help them to see the same question, where they'd likely post it... in the "proper" forum, if one exists...

so, the question, "should I post this in the Tips and Tricks forum?" should be answered something like "only if you care about other people finding what they're looking for more quickly"

does that make sense?

I think it's still a free for all here, but some day it'll probably get more "rules" oriented... we've got a long way to go to build this forum up, and with your help it'll get built on a foundation of rocks instead of sand....

thanks for asking, and reading my reply. take it for what its worth

I'm not saying they've eaten there, but that there's good odds they've stepped foot in and snuck some fries when no one was looking.

As long as you have a strong heart, you should hit a Starbucks for frappicino (caffienated). For you, it will be legal cocaine. If you try it, have someone capture your crazed eyes for posterity!

:-)

Everybody has a heart. Except some people.. BD
