Did you reboot and zap PRAM after changing settings?

Don't change the dip switch while it's attached BTW.

Nope, I didn't, but when I rebooted later, it rebooted into 800x600.

Well, the monitor connector on the new monitor I bought is NOT compatible with the present video I have. There is no way to hook it up. I believe I need a video card that will work with this monitor.

Try another setting and reboot again.

I need to know what the monitor connector looks like.

Google images for DB-15, VGA, ADC, and DVI. Let me know which is the connection on the monitor.

It's an ADC connector. I looked at DVI to ADC converters, and they are stupidly priced!! I did find that card for under 15.00 for the next 18 or so hours. If it's the one I need to use this beautiful monitor, I'd like to go ahead and order it.

Well, I did do the PRAM reset and now I have a grey screen with nothing on it. I've disconnected the power, given it time to completely power down, but nothing. Still got a grey screen.

I couldn't reset the DIP switches while the machine is running, because I cannot get to them without cutiing it off and taking the machine down to where I could get to it. I put back the old adapter, but still nothing but a grey screen.

RB.. isn't the monitor resolution held by the PRAM battery?
Could a weak battery be the problem?

The ADC connector was an Apple idea.. to run USB and video and power thru a single cable with a honkin big brick to go with it.
Do you just need the DVI to ADC adapter.. or do you also need the ADC brick and cable assembly?
