Well, the dip-switch adapter arrived today, and there is no change. I'm still stuck with 640x480, and no way I set the switches makes any difference. Oh, well....
Did you reboot and zap PRAM after changing settings?
Don't change the dip switch while it's attached BTW.
Don't worry abut the video card. It has no bearing on what you're trying to do. the stock card will be fine.
Well, the monitor connector on the new monitor I bought is NOT compatible with the present video I have. There is no way to hook it up. I believe I need a video card that will work with this monitor.

I need to know what the monitor connector looks like.
Google images for DB-15, VGA, ADC, and DVI. Let me know which is the connection on the monitor.
It's an ADC connector. I looked at DVI to ADC converters, and they are stupidly priced!! I did find that card for under 15.00 for the next 18 or so hours. If it's the one I need to use this beautiful monitor, I'd like to go ahead and order it.

Well, I did do the PRAM reset and now I have a grey screen with nothing on it. I've disconnected the power, given it time to completely power down, but nothing. Still got a grey screen.
I couldn't reset the DIP switches while the machine is running, because I cannot get to them without cutiing it off and taking the machine down to where I could get to it. I put back the old adapter, but still nothing but a grey screen.

The ADC connector was an Apple idea.. to run USB and video and power thru a single cable with a honkin big brick to go with it. Do you just need the DVI to ADC adapter.. or do you also need the ADC brick and cable assembly?
