It senses when you are on a website with Flash video content. It then takes that Flash video, converts it to HTML5 video on their servers, and then they stream that video to you.
It's a workaround …not something that is appealing. It gets the job done until websites become HTML5 ready.
Nope - it came as an update through the App Store on my phone, and then I got an iTunes receipt for my payment a couple of days later. Not that I object in principle to paying the tiny amount of money (using other people's work for free is a privilege, not a right), it's just cheeky not to say "you will be charged" in the update notes.
