I bought an iPad this weekend. I am ashamed of my weakness but I did it anyway. I would rather have one now and be using it while I wait on the new models. If there is something really compelling about the new ones, I will let my son or daughter have this one or sell it and trade up. I don't need another camera or GPS and I don't use Face Time or the iWork applications yet.
I am still feeling my way around but I am impressed so far. I really enjoy reading on the iPad because of the bright screen. I have had cataract surgery and implanted lenses so the light is really important. I did not like the Kindle for that reason. I do not play games on the computer but for some reason I really enjoy them on the iPhone and iPad. I debated on the WiFi and 3G but decided to get one with the 3G included just in case I decide I need it.
I have not had a glass of Kool Aid since 1969. I may have broken that streak this weekend.

Enjoy, Papa. I'm waiting for v. 2
On the other hand, I put in an order for a new dual 2.4 GHz MacPro. I did it through the school, so on a per month basis it's very doable. But the school takes forever to full orders. Can't wait for it to show up.

I bought an older Mac Pro when the new models came out last year. I already had an Apple cinema display to go with it. I was going to go with the IMac but I bought this one within a $100 of what a 24 inch would have cost me so I am good to go for awhile.
I download a lot of free books from Project Gutenberg. I have been revisiting a lot of the classics I hadn't read since high school. I might even have a Dickens or two in the line up.

Way to go Papa. If you wanted it, then no regrets. We all know we could wait forever for the latest and greatest, but you have it NOW. And I'm jealous!

I got mine a couple months ago. Before I bought, some thought I might wait for the new models to come out. I replied that considering my health those months waiting were precious to me so I sprung and got the base model. Rather wish I got one with 3G like you.
I was given a great case for it to protect it and facilate carrying it
It is not heavy and has a handle that is easy to hold so I don't have to grip it so tightly.
All Sunday afternoon and evening I have been on it with my TV off. Shucks, I even missed Dexter. Been reading a book mostly. For books I have the Kindle Ap. Ot works pretty well. I can get bon Amazon, fid a book athen I less than five minutes be reading. The price is not that much more than I would pay at That mega store that starts with "W" and the selection is not censored.
I take it most places I go and many times, folks will come over and ask if that was one of those iPads? I turn into a live informercial .
Glad you got one
Just this afternoon I got a recipe App. Pretty cool
