A newer patch just came to help with the FPS and other minor issues. More RAM is always nice, but more video card power is always better. Unfortunately, you don't have a mac pro, because you can't upgrade the video card on any other model.

Lowering the game resolution a couple of settings and disabling the sunshafts and liquid effects will drastically improve your performance!
