My kids think I get every new Apple offering that comes out -- if not immediately, then eventually.

I'm so impressed with the MacAir. I could even run Kindle for Mac on it and read my Kindle books.

Ah well, take some deep breaths and go dig in the dirt for a while.

The only thing about using a MacAir for books is that it's not going to be so easy to view it in portrait.

I haven't looked at the MacBook Air but I don't think you will find me buying it over the iPad.

Reasons?

MBAir is still bigger, not only in screen, but it's got the other half with keyboard. Not good...I want thinner.

Price. Cheapest MBAir is still $949 (ed discount), which is $120 more than the top end iPad.

Let me ask you Kate, what would you do with the MBAir that you couldn't do with the iPad? (ok, leave out any apps like iMovie/iPhoto or other serious software)

Wait until the 2nd gen. iPad is announced and then see. Perhaps it might offer you more benefit than the MBAir. If it does come with a camera, then I bet iMovie will be available and iPhoto!

For me, since the introduction of the iPad, a laptop (or even a netbook) would be overkill for what my mobile needs are. Apple just needs to enable wireless syncing capabilities to the iPad, even if it has to be keyed/locked to a particular Mac.

I agree. I think we talked about this in FL. I would be MORE than happy with the iPad and it's killing me to wait for the 2nd generation!

Jaz and I just had a talk about the MBA this morining.

For Jaz she needs to run apps like PS - Me I just need something to pass the time waiting the 2 freaking hours catching a plane, so iPad for me.
