I do agree, in a sense that a Hetro couple with equal abilities to provide for the adoption over a gay couple <-- the Hetro should be given first choice.
However a gay couple who exceeds a hetro couple abilities to provide for a adoptions - should always get that adoption.
Standard adoption procedures with any adoption. Should be the same with gays as well.
Simply A gay couple who are qualified for adopting a child should get their chance in the sun. When there is no other Hetro couple that qualifies.
The assumption that hets are always going to be better at parenting than gays and lesbians is rich. You can still be a drug addicted, alcoholic, abusive and downright stupid, but as long as you're het, well... come and get them chillluns!

The judge's ruling was also based on several reliable studies that children with either opposite sex or same sex parents thrive just as well. Virtually makes no difference.
