I've always done it. Sell the current unit before AppleCare runs out and you get a good price for your tower/whatever.
But when I sell my iPhones...it's nuts.
I paid $300.00 for my 3Gs and $40? for AppleCare last May off of Ebay.
I got an iP4 for anniversary/birthday gift so I am selling the 3Gs.

It's almost busted $400.00...

Making a profit on a used electronic item...lol.

The winner lives in Thailand. Ugh. Don'y know why, but overseas transactions make me jumpy. Should I be concerned?

How are they offering to pay?

I always specify US sales only on mine.

Well, at least you have some protection. I would send them a message saying that their money has to clear before shipping due to being overseas.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Also, I have Ebay on the line right now to find out my risk, if any?
If I remember correctly PayPal / Ebay only cover up to certain percentage/amount.

The good news is the phone sold for $403.00

I just remembered that my last few transactions on ebay/paypal, Paypal held my money until the item was received by the buyer or a certain date passed.

Do you accept credit card payments? Read about chargebacks.

You should only accept payment from a bank account, that way once the money is taken out the buyer can't take the payment back.

Make sure you get a signature for proof of delivery if you accept credit cards. That still is not protection from chargebacks though. The buyer can initiate a chargeback weeks after you get your money, saying they never got the item, and PayPal will take the money back from your funding source(s) until the matter is cleared up, and it's up to you to prove that you shipped the item and that they received it.

Feel more secure now? smirk
