I've always done it. Sell the current unit before AppleCare runs out and you get a good price for your tower/whatever. But when I sell my iPhones...it's nuts. I paid $300.00 for my 3Gs and $40? for AppleCare last May off of Ebay. I got an iP4 for anniversary/birthday gift so I am selling the 3Gs.
Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Also, I have Ebay on the line right now to find out my risk, if any? If I remember correctly PayPal / Ebay only cover up to certain percentage/amount.
I just remembered that my last few transactions on ebay/paypal, Paypal held my money until the item was received by the buyer or a certain date passed.

It was nice knowing you all....
You should only accept payment from a bank account, that way once the money is taken out the buyer can't take the payment back.
Make sure you get a signature for proof of delivery if you accept credit cards. That still is not protection from chargebacks though. The buyer can initiate a chargeback weeks after you get your money, saying they never got the item, and PayPal will take the money back from your funding source(s) until the matter is cleared up, and it's up to you to prove that you shipped the item and that they received it.
And I wonder what the winning bid would have been without the foreigner?
The next bid was 398.00. The guy from thailand started bidding around 388.00... but there was also a guy from Italy bidding. If it wasn't for the overseas bids it would prolly have stalled around 370.00.
I have now edited my preferences so that only US buyers can bid.
Also no credit card, instant transfer only. For small obscure items CC is okay, chances of someone trying to screw you out of $20 for some old tin cookie container is pretty much non-existent, but a popular piece of electronics that goes for a few hundo, yes. There is CC fraud here too.
Don't worry about insisting on instant transfer, there's enough honest ones out there. ebay is huge.
