I was going to post something like "who the fsk could possibly care?" since I don't think anyone actually uses those buttons.
But then, since they were placed oddly, I pressed the green one and my iTunes got minimized. So I kind of like the new position since it reminds me that iTunes might be the only program I would actually use them.

I'm a shortcut kind of guy; but many folks aren't.
Consistent UI conventions are one of the bits of polish that almost all Maccers appreciate about the OS, whether they ever even thought about it or not. IMNSO, there should be an App-level preference for reverting to convention—it couldn't be too tough to implement—should folks want it. People who are button-oriented, though, might not want to mess with a Terminal command to switch it back.

It's a good opinion to have since the Macintosh experience is all about everything working the same throughout all applications. One goofball on the iTunes team sets the lights like an overhead stop light and the next thing we know we have comic sans in the alert boxes.
Better to stop this tom foolery now. (Not kidding at all.)
