HelloMac n00b Registered: 03/18/10 Posts: 5	I'm trying to figure out what I'm actually seeing when I look at my iMac's file system. path$ cd / path$ ls -a shows me a list of the files and folders of / . path$/ cd // path$// ls -a shows me a duplicate list of files and folders, at // . What am I actually seeing at // vs. / ? Thanks for your time.

HelloMac n00b Registered: 03/18/10 Posts: 5	Thanks for responding and I follow your thought, but I'm still confused. After the cd // I end up at user$// vs. user$/ . If it dropped off the extra backslash during the command then why does the double backslash remain throughout any ls command? It doesn't go away until I specifically cd / and then it returns to the normal single backslash. Best, hm
