Can you create a map, and share it using your Google apps log in, or can it only be done with a regular Google account. When I try to Create and Share a map it takes me to my regular Google log in, not the Google apps I'm already logged into.

I did do a search. crazy

Login to google.
Got to "my maps" when viewing a map.
Create your map. You can add tokens, distances in a track or a straight line multiple times with all sorts of notes.
Save and done.
Make it "public".
You can then publish the html address. Click link and ...

or make a shorty using google beta shortly: http://goo.gl/W1IY

I understand all of that when logged into my regular google gmail account, thanks though, but google apps and the regular google log in are separate. Can you create and share a map using your apps account?

Sign out of google maps and try to create a map. It will take you to a different log in screen from google apps.

I may be missing something big (not the first time) but what is "google apps?".

Wait, I googled it. A set of apps that are all tied together in google that you pay for. Nope, haven't done that. Is it worth it? It's separate from google mail and google earth?

Google apps is free, the paid version just allows email storage and other things, the wiki link list the differences. It allows a business to share calendars, spreadsheets, and other docs via a web interface. It is an office suite kind of thing on line. You can set up a web site too.

I thought that google analytic was part of it too is why I thought you used it, guess analytics are separate. I can't even keep up with all this crap. :-}

I gave up trying to keep up with it all a long time ago. That's why I hang out here and find out what is actually working. Google Analytics is standalone from this other stuff. Yesterday was the fourth anniversary of plugging it into my two biggest websites so yesterday I was enjoying looking at all the graphs in four year end to end mode. I wish they had had it back in 1995 when I first started those websites as the data are really interesting. One can compare a few months from four years ago to a few months this year and see the rise and decline of browsers, operating systems and computer models. Since one website is only used by molecular biologists and the other is more general I can also see trends that show up in one group before the other.

On the general site the user is in IE on windows but the margin over MacSafari is much smaller than last year and overtaking might be at hand. On the biology site 2 out of three boxes are Macs which just two years ago that was the other way around. molecular biologists trended toward the Mac but in the past year that trend has turned to a flood.

GAnalytics even breaks out mobile too. Already the blackberry is a 3% to the 94% by iPhone. Remember when the iPhone was introduced and blackberry owners laughed at the insecure toy?

Then I also find amusing the search words used to find my sites. "Oligonucleotide calculator" is still hot since I had the first in 1995. "Jill Wagner" is a tenth of a percent and dropping. Is she over the hill? Crikey, I just checked the last three months and she does not show up once in over 5,000 keywords.

Never ending. Just looked at the OS trends and the switch to 7 is moribund. XP and Vista still rule, probably in the back office. Over on the Mac side more than half are running 10.6 with 10.5 holding the rest. A healthier picture.

Tell me about it.
In another thread you talked about the price we must pay Google to get at the top of the list.
My company doesn't understand that they have to pay big bucks to get there.
And they want me to explain why.
WHY??? $%$#$@#$#! if I know!!!!
