Anyone know if a Touch won't work at all with an old G4 w/USB 1.0, or will it just be slow to download/update? The specs, of course, call for a USB 2.0 port.

It will charge and work, the file transfer will be slow is all.
Really slow.
You can get a cheap USB 2 card for less than $10 US. The only caveat being all depending on the version of the OS it may not support deep sleep with mass storage devices attached to the USB 2 card. It will halfway sleep and not wake up. I think Leopard took car of those issues though. Sleep seems to work on my G4 in Leopard. Just make sure you unplug the Touch before sleeping.

Thanks for the replies! Unfortunately, it's now a moot point. There was a local Cragslist deal for a free(!) G4 Power Mac, that I was going to give to a friend who just got his first iPod (he has no computer). BUT, I missed it by THAT much...
