For all your love of financial regulation, youíve joined with the libertarian Republican Ron Paul to write bills that would shrink government. Do you think your bill to legalize marijuana will ever pass?
Yes, in the next five years.
Will that expand the tax base? As a nation, do you think we could smoke our way to solvency?
I want to be clear; thatís not my major motivation. My major motivation is personal freedom. When we outlaw marijuana or online gambling, all you do is create more criminals and deprive us of revenue.

Could we put together the smarts of Barney Frank and the clear cut data from Portugal and end the "War On Drugs"?
All of it. Marijuana of course but also cocaine and heroin. All of the bad things that are linked to these drugs are there because they are illegal.
Decriminalize, regulate, tax and control drugs. We will deprive criminals of revenue. We will deprive the Taliban from revenue (we also have to just stop handing them billions through Pakistan but that's a different story.)
Barney is not a Libertarian. He is just a very smart guy who makes sense.
