I believe the upgrade prices are predicated on the difference from the "base" HDD, i.e. the smaller the base drive, the more expensive the equivalent upgrade will be.

Yup - the 13" mbp starts at only 250Gb as standard (Apple upgraded me to 320Gb for free because I'm using mine for study, bless...) - but maybe the ones that go in a laptop are also more compact than the ones that go in an iMac too, so more expensive to manufacture?

What a bunch of fan boys. ;-) That's kind of bull if that's the reason, same price for the drive, same drive. I can't see it costing an extra $150 in time spent on a MBP BTO.
