Hi, I met an educator from Haiti last night who wants to set up a site where he can post a collection of photos for public viewing. He speaks very little (no) English and I speak no French or Creole so I'm a little unsure of his needs. He has a web page but the webmaster is very difficult to work with. What he'd like to do is put a link from his web page to a site where he can post images of Haitian educational subjects. This guy is very impressive as an innovator in education and has done a great deal to modernize the system there. Money is a problem, so if there are any sites out there that are free that would be great. A second related question is about how to send (email or other) videos around the internet. He has a gmail account but I think the files must be too large to send.
All internet service providers give free personal web space. He can also use something like photobucket, flicker, zoomr, but with some sites like that if the pics aren't viewed at least once in 30 days they drop off. Also all depending on traffic they may limit how much bandwidth is used to access the pics.
Here's a comaprison. It's a couple of years old so some info regarding bandwidth etc may have changed a bit.
I thought about Picasa but knew I couldn't communicate well enough with him to help with that. As I responded to MacGizmo, I think he wound up with a Facebook account.

I dunno...1024 MB of free space. Let's say each picture is 200KB (reasonable averaqe for a decent size image). That's room for 5000+ pictures. Seems to me that should be substantial enough for most purposes.

Most of my photos average 1MB or more each as a JPG. But then again, I take all my photos as high res as possible, and I upload them to Flickr at full res.

I was talking about medium sized, reasonably compressed photos. I take high res stuff, too, but I always shrink 'em for convenient & quick viewing on most sizes of displays.
But even at 1 MB each, that's still room for 1000+ photos.
Even the most vigorous uploaders would take awhile to max it out. For casual users, they might never reach that limit.
