First, thanks Neil for migrating this over to a new server. I understand that you all are going to do tweeks and such, so this may be a moot point after you all are done.
But when I click on a link (to start a new topic, to view a post, or to enter a section, etc), it takes 6-8 seconds on my home computer. I'm on 10.6.4 using Chrome on my Cable ISP. Safari is equally slow.
The forum migration to a new server was the first step in the improvements that we'll be doing. Currently there are many requests to various servers to grab all of surrounding layout, which is slowing things down.
We'll be going through those and cleaning up what isn't needed (some of the CSS and JS files aren't used in the forum area), and then moving everything we can to the new server so it resides locally and won't require an external request.
So, expect things to improve over the next week or so as we work through this.
