I went to Honolulu on business for about a week as the Gulf War was breaking out. OK, it is a big city, but Oahu was surprisingly very nice. I went all around the island and just used Honolulu as a base. Not far to some nice beaches to the east of the city and great snorkeling. You don't want to spend more than a day checking out Honolulu itself, but to use it as a base for exploring the island is not bad at all. So, although Giz is correcct in a way, if you are just dying to get to the islands and can't afford to go to any of the other islands, this could work for you.

I am on Oahu, orginaly from Kauai where I was raised.

You are more then well come to stay at my house.
The money you save on Hotel can go for activities and car rental. Since my daughter and I are both working you will need a rental to get around.

Also there are many "Overniter" deals or "fly drive" packages to the outer islands. Like 150 bucks 2 days car, room and airline deals.

I have to see a client right now but I'll be back in one hour.

Not much. Honolulu in on the island of Oahu.
But, you knew that
If you do go there, you can say hi to a pal of mine who is the manager of the CompUSA there.

Edited by sross on 03/16/03 01:31 PM (server time).

Actually Steve,
I hope that you weren't feeling pressured or anything to offer me to stay there by what the others were saying.

I don't want to impose and will probably (if I went that route) just be happy enough camping.

Wow..hotel prices are actually cheaper than what I figured.

Steve (carp), perhaps you could tell me which ones to avoid?

I think that your offer was great, but I don't want to impose on you and your family. Perhaps we could meet up for dinner or something instead? (geez..here I am, talking about going and I haven't even got the tickets.)
