Whoa! You want some company, Nana? I looooove blackjack. Man, used to be we'd drive over to Lake Charles and tear up a weekend. Too broke these daze, but when we win the Lottery? I'll throw away this glamorous life and turn pro. I used to deal at clubs here, but it was strictly play for fun. Tips were good, though, and I learned a lot. wink

Oh, and Texas Hold 'Em? I'm one of five people on the entire planet that will watch that stuff for hours.

Sigh. I sure miss playing.

Lea,

My daughter is currently trying to teach me Texas Hold 'Em. It's her favorite game.

I am strictly a "slot slut." About 5 years ago my daughter taught me how to play "casino" blackjack as opposed to me running my mouth like I do playing at home. blush
What I do now is take my "slot" winnings to play blackjack. Got pretty good at it. Since I play for "fun" I find "friendly" tables at the casinos. Still like to run my mouth during games. blush
Played in a mini-tournament once & made it to the 3rd round. Was so proud at myself because I was the only female that made it that far. Walked away with $2500. The winning pot was $10,000. Tournament games are too serious for me. I could imagine how serious the players must be to play in those $100k+ tournaments.
My paramour only plays Spanish 21. That game makes my head spin with the strange odds. So I just sit there with him making side bets, take his my winnings & play on the slots. laugh

Wish casinos had pinochle!

Pinochle?!? I learned how to play that when I lived (temporarily) up in Missouri*. Shoot, there were a couple of road houses that would hold weekend tournaments ~ damn was that ever fun. Ya gotta know your partner, huh?

I'm not much for slots. I'll slouch over to 'em when I've burned my blackjack stash. Your strategy sounds a whole lot saner. Nana, if we ever hook up? We could bring those casinos to their friggin' knees.

*That reminds me, haven't seen Pirate in a while. Maybe put out an APB?

In fact I don't know how too - I do know something about dice , since it only goes up to 12 and Black Jack since , I can count to 21 laugh all the rest forget it , I wouldn't know how to play .

Soooooooo , if I went to Vegas

1 - Should I play Slots ?
2 - Should I play the Tables ?

You can learn enough about blackjack to have a fighting chance, but you have to want to learn. And never every play at a table where the dealer or the other players don't feel "right." That's a luck thingie for me, anyway. Cold dealer, pissed off players, I'll pass after a couple of hands. Unless I start to win, then I'll just ride it so I can keep the pissed off players pissed off, and then I'll walk away just when I'm really gettin' hot. Makes their heads explode. laugh

Slots are easy and you get a lot more play for your nickle ~ Look for the machines at the end of the rows, the ones with the highest visibility. Then stake out a few, and watch for the ones that somebody is playing for a long time and losing. When they finally walk away, that's as good a slot as any to play.

The house never loses, but it wants everybody to think they have a chance, so the slots with the highest crowd visibility are the ones that will pay the best/most often. 'Course, your very best bet is to just not play, but that's no fun. Second best bet is to quit while you're ahead, but that's not easy. wink

Carp, Lea has provided some excellent tips for you.

I started my "blackjack training exercise" in Vegas because they have free table games lessons & $1 minimum bet tables. Atlantic City does not have either mad but has quite a few "senior/disabled" tables ($5 minimum bets). Those are really fun tables for a beginner. The pace is slower & the people are fun to play with.

When gambling, always set a budget for yourself & don't go over it. Play for fun, not to win.

When you play slots, always play the max coins.
I have a set budget amount for $1, 50¢ & 25¢ slots. When done, I take $20 & play the 1 & 2¢ slots. That $20 last me all day & into the evening hours. Most nights I walk away with $100 on those machines.

I only gamble at night & into the wee mornings. I love taking the "day trippers" money. laugh

The main thing is to just enjoy yourself.
The ones who play to win, are the ones playing w/their rent, mortgage, car notes, running back & forth to the Mac machines monies. smirk

Another tip. When gambling wear a fanny pack. Pickpocketers love casinos. I'm a people watcher & I have seen quite a few professional pickpocketers in action in both Vegas & Atlantic City. shocked
I notice in Vegas they work in 3s. In AC they mostly work in 2s.

Side note: Vegas "casino" hookers are more glamorous & beautiful looking than they are in AC. In AC it's hard to tell the "casino" females hookers from the tranny hookers. laugh

"Casino" hookers don't work the streets. whistle

Thanks
Lea and Nana

Yeah funny that Jaz and even my mother have been to Vegas a number of times - I have never been there once laugh My mother normally wins in the positive , Jaz wins enough to break even for the cost of the trip over.

Jaz at some hotel in Vegas that has a waxed museum
