AT&T announced this week that a new data plan for iPhone owners, dubbed "DataPro," will be offered starting June 7, providing 2GB of data for $25 per month. Tethering costs an additional $20 per month, and lets customers use their handset to share Internet connectivity with another device, such as a laptop. Tethering will be available this summer when iPhone OS 4 is released.
AT&T will also offer a less expensive data plan, called "DataPlus," which offers 200MB for $15 per month. The carrier noted in its press release that 65 percent of its smartphone customers use less than 200MB per month, while 98 percent use less than 2GB per month.
Current customers are NOT required to switch...yet.

2G of data doesn't go far at all. 200M is nothing. The bastards got everyone hooked on it and are now raising the stakes. That's BS. They advertise all this connectivity and whiz bang devices, then change the rules.

Your usage is always available on AT&T's site. If my daughter did not have her unlimited data plan, she would be costing me nearly $50/month instead of the $15/month rate on her phone (not an iPhone).

Boy, John, that's a heck of a lot. My son lives on his iPhone, and just checking the usage at the ATT site, the most he's used over the last 6 months is just under 100 MB per month.

really? I didn't think I was on a lot. But then I wonder if some apps are using a lot?
For instance, WhatsApp. It is a texting client I use to text Waleed for free. We can send video and audio. I bet that is what caused mine to be so much?
And I have uploaded youtube videos too.

I could easily get by with the 200MB a month the biggest rip is the tethering. You can't use it with the unlimited plan. They make you switch to the 2GB plan AND pay an extra $20 a month for the privilege. $45 a month for 2GB is a load of crap.
edit: Ok,I found it I think. Looks like I'm using about 441Mbytes max per month.
Wow, from what I've seen some use a lot more than that. Guess it depends on how "tethered" they are to their phone, not in the tethering aspect like mentioned above though. More like it seems the phone is surgically implanted in their hand.

Thanks for the heads up...
I checked my data estimate with their on-line calculator and I think I'm right on the edge. 200 Mb isn't much these days. 30 emails and 30 web pages / day and you're at 180 Mb !! (according to their calculator).
IF I ever have to change, I may have to go DataPro plan; still $5 cheaper.
i think it's a no brainer to move my wife to the $15/month plan. perhaps i can do it as well.
the thing that is crummy about tethering is that the iPhone cannot be tethered to a Wifi iPad . . . and tethering only works for 1 device at a time. the EVO on Android/Sprint can create a Wifi network for up to 8 devices, but Apple doesn't provide this option. if i could tether to the iPad then i'd easily stick with an iPhone but now i am not sure. hmmmm.
