If you're going to Chicago, try and plan at least one day/night to do something on "The Lake."
Since you're driving, make sure you bring your aggression or get run over if you're going to be in the city. It's a trip navigating that city in a car. It's kind of like a well choreographed road race. When I come back home from there it takes a bit of readjustment not to get flipped off here.
And here I thought the drivers there were pretty well behaved compared to the drivers on the right coast. Even in my little city, people are nuts. Doesn't help that the streets, some of them, were made for horse and buggies.

If you want something more relaxing, you could try Asheville, NC. Great scenery, lots of attractions in the area and you could get in some gambling at the casino. Maybe bird would come and visit you. Heck, I might use it as an excuse to drive up there. But first choice has to be Atlanta, OK?
