I visited the O2 website to update my address details now that I've moved house. Out of curiosity, I checked out the current iPhone tariffs (which haven't changed) - but discovered that since my iPhone ontract was up last month, I'm eligible to cross-grade to a sim-only deal. Practically speaking, all they've done is change my tariff on the current phone & number, but I've gone down from £35/month to £15/month!
I'm getting 300 minutes instead of 600 for this, but I've practically never used 300 minutes in a month anyway (the next normal tariff down when I started was only 100 minutes, so not worth it). I still get unlimited texts and internet (fortunately, my new gf is a 21st-century gal and likes to text rather than phone ). This is going to save me £240 over the year - which I may decide to spend on the new iPhone when it arrives .

LOL
The last time I tried that , for some dang reason I was getting phones way way more than usual . Like everyone on the planet heard I changed my plan to a lower minute one - so now lets all call Carp
You're right, I just don't understand right now . Paying as in having to answer a lot of phone calls? Time is money? I'm surprised if I get as much as 2 calls a week incoming, usually... it's all text & emails. I use the phone a lot for making calls, but I've pretty much never used even half my old limit. And I have an O2 app on the phone that ells me what I've got left that month. My only bugbear is the 'lo-cost' or 'freephone' numbers, which O2 charges mobile phone users extra to call. It takes quite a lot of research sometimes to track down the company's 'normal' phone number so I don't have to pay extra to phone them. My bank doesn't even have one any more, so I've complained to them (which has confused them).

I think that what he means is that in England (and most of Europe, if my memory serves me), you don't use your minutes if someone calls you. They would use ten minutes or whatever of their time, but you wouldn't have used any.
Yeah, I thought that's what you meant - but my friends are all cheapskates and don't call me anyway . The only time my phone's been really busy was when I was doing care work, and then my manager would always call me straight back, as she could claim her phone time.
