Most of us have learned by doing exactly what you've been doing. Trash it, get help, fix it. Just remember, a file system is a file system. Whatever you did (and couldn't do) on a Windows PC is pretty much the same on a Mac (unless, of course, you really trashed a PC too).
I reformatted the HD and everything works fine. I was really amazed at what the apps Garage band can do for you. No where can windows come close to this at their programs at all. I read the support you can get from Apple from their own website and all you guys helping me out I appreciate this immensely.I use to belong to the Asus site and hardly anyone responded at all not like Mac here.J

Jerry - David is right . Not only Mac help questions but pretty much anything else , this forum has a broad range of members in many different industries .
I really appreciate all the help you gave me so far. I reside in the Philippines and their knowledge of Mac is not like in the states.I really miss the USA a lot as it has been over 3 1/2 years I have not been back there. J
Another satisfied user! I'm so glad you've gotten back on your [Mac] feet, J. Hope you stick around here.
You know, many of us have been a part of this forum over 10 years! Some of us didn't know diddly squat about a lot of Mac stuff. We still continue to grow and can relate to you and the problems you had in getting started.
I'm retired but worked for the State of Oregon for 22 years. Much of the latter part of that time, I worked on a PC! I was so happy to get home to my Macintosh in the evenings. Now I've forgotten much of what I knew about PCs and am confident using my iMAC 24inch.
Kate it is refreshing talking to a senior as I am a senior myself. I have been semi retired since 62 years old. I discovered the garageband lately and would like to ask you about the magic garage band which actually is the purpose of this app? I find out quit intriguing when I did it the first time.Do you think in your opinion Mac will start using the new i processors soon in their laptops?Take care J
