My Zone Manager approached me today with an offer I didn't refuse: Move from Hardware where my hours were subject to being cut due to personnel moves (more bodies in the department - fewer hours available) to the front end (cashier) where hours are being added and are more consistent. I'd still be part-time, but have a few more hours per week and the ability to pick up more as needed. I get more experience in the day to day operations of the store and demonstrate my flexibility. This is good, yes?

Well, if you take the cashier job, you will give me a face to visualize whenever I exercise my attitude about never, NEVER using self check-out in those big box stores. I will actually wait in a line rather than go straight to one of those self check-out lines.
It's costing humans their jobs when customers use self check-out.
