I have a HP 2200dn laser printer with a envelope feed tray that is the center-feed style (i.e., for any paper sizes less than 8.5 inches wide, the guides collapse into the center). I used to be able to print in OS 9 and OS 8 using Now's center-feed envelope presets, but they seem to be missing in 5.3.2. Envelopes like #10 or Invitation sizes (4-5 inches wide) will go through the printer and come out blank because the toner "missed" the actual envelope. Any suggestions or workarounds? I can't believe Now doesn't have the ability to print to center-feed printers.
I found a workaround. Now's tech suggested I need a new print driver, but Mac OSX automatically installs the latest drivers for you, so the problem was with Now's software. By the way, this is for small invitation-sized envelopes, but you can easily modify it for any size. In essence, you set the layout margins such that the you get the printer to print where it needs to.
Go to Define Print Templates>Envelopes, and create a new/custom envelope size with an 8-1/2 inch width (i.e. letter-size). Then click on the Edit Layout Dimensions button and set the top margin to 2-1/16 inch and the left margin to 5-1/4 inch. You don't have to change the envelope layout, just the layout dimensions. The large top margin is the required distance to "center" the Now's printout onto the 4-3/8" tall invitation envelope. The 5-1/4 inch left margin is required on the HP 2200dn because it normally prints envelopes with the right (stamp) end in first (without the large left margin, the printout would "miss" the actual envelope).
Thus, this printing problem seems to have been due to the omission of envelope templates for center-feed HP printers.
