A new appointment, with no information in in at all, has replicated over 1000 times. I estimate 23 pages in list view.
I am operating 5.3.2 in Leopard, with two client computers and one server. I do sync to a palm, but this problem is not associated with a palm device.
I have gone back to earlier backups and found a file without the duplicates, but the server immediately serves the duplicate appointments to my desktop. I tried this with four separate backup files.
I then went offline, found a good backup, chose it as my primary, did a save-as, and then went through the refreshing prefs routine as well, including re-saving. When I went back online, all the erroneous duplicated events showed up again as soon as the server was contacted.
The other client machine does not see these duplicates.
I tried to delete the duplicate appointments while offline, but once I reconnected to the server I get a message telling me that, for every appointment I deleted, it was edited while I was offline, so it pops up again. Consequently, the program is unusable.
I tried to "delete duplicates" using the menus, but it does not apparent see these appointments as duplicates.
I have not tried going back with Leopard's timemachine, but I do have that option on either the server or the client.
It is not continuing to make the duplicates. What do I do?

The following link takes you to an FAQ that deals with this in some detail:
Thank you Dan. Your FAQ instructions were perfect and very clear and solved my problem. I had searched all the FAQ for help but somehow just did not find that set of instructions. Maybe it needs more search tags? Such as replicating, duplicates, duplicating, multiples, multiple events?
