Recently I did one of the many software/security updates to Leopard (10.5.5). I am not sure if that caused the problem or something else, but now my laptop on the network just displays "Looking for server" when I launch Now-up-to-date. I have stopped and restarted the server manager, renewed DHCP, of course rebooted, and many other things and the server cannot be found. If I look at Server Connections, it is the right IP. If I do a + to add the server, it is the exact same IP and adding just results in the same message.
How can I get NUD to see the server since the IP is right, the network works fine (I can mount and transfer file without problem)?

Is the server connection in Now Up-to-Date IP or Bonjour/Rendezvous? If you create a new calendar file, with a new server connection, does it read correctly from the event server?

The server is Bonjour. My wife's connection via Bonjour updates NUD fine. I moved my laptop to another ethernet connection (even tried airport) and it didn't update. I do NOT have a firewall on so not sure why the port isn't working. I rebooted the computers and the router, then did a DHCP refresh and it did work yesterday. But a LOT of effort to get it to work.
Again, Bonjour and all the IP addresses show up correctly.
No, a new calendar on the laptop had the same initial problem. I did not try a new one after all the reboots since the original worked.

Is the server on your computer or your wife's? If you open Now Server Manager, does it say the server has any errors?
Another thing you can try is to change it from a Bonjour connection to IP address, and manually type in the IP and port number you see in the Now Server Manager.

The server is on my computer. No errors. An IP address works but then you have to constantly change it because of the DHCP internet connection. I know I can configure my router for a specific IP, but it is a pain to do it.
I have found that if I uncheck the box in Now Server and then APPLY (causing the server to stop), then renew DHCP on the laptop, and finally check the Server box again that 95% of the time the server can be found. Tedious work-around, but it seems to work.
