I moved from the pc platform to the new iMac with Leopard. Is there a utility to covert my Act! 2000 pc files to Now on the Mac?
Question 2:
If I buy Now, I would need to be able to choose certain records by criteria. E.g - all the people with city "New York". And then print out a report or list of the information in those specific records. Would that be possible using Now software?

Hi Charlie --
That works very well in Now Contact. Find command, can search with several options on fields you check-off; can create a new list, add to a list, etc. Then print (with a template) the contacts you have selected.
This is very encouraging. Now, I just have to wait for someone to reply whether or not a conversion utility exists to do an Act 2000 to Now conversion. I have about 8 years of data input into my Act! data files. It would be impossible for me to re-enter all that data. I want very much to get off the pc platform and use only my new iMac. Hoping there's a conversion program out there somewhere.
Thanks again, Sally,

The only direct conversion was for the Mac version of Act! And Act! abandoned development of it years ago. For the Windows versions, you have to export the data to text(tab delimited) and then import into Now Contact. Though for an earlier version, the attached file should help.

When I export my Act! 2000 data to txt file (tab delimited)., would the txt file fields coincide with the Now file format? Would my personal "notes" all go into a "notes" or "comments" field in Now?
Are the fields in the Now file format "position dependent"? In a specific order in the file? If so, is the field order in Now exactly the same as the field order in Act! 2000?
After all this questioning on my part, if it looks like it's going to work, I'll d'load the Now demo version and check out the file structure of both Act! and the Now files, hoping to be able to see if there will be a field for field match.

Charlie,
Now Contact understands that the fields may not line up with its defaults. Thus, the import process includes a step where you can specify the mapping from your import file into Now Contact. You do this by checking the fields you want to import and moving them up and down the list to coincide with your data. You can then click through to see the actual data and how it maps for each contact to verify things are correct before importing.
