Sorry, but I have to complain. (Can't just send an email apparently. Gotta fill out one of those esoteric "Support Requests" just to write the company, apparently. So I'll just post here. No doubt the post will be removed, but that's okay; it will mean somebody in the company read it, which is all I want.) I want to register my disappointment, to put it mildly, that the company doesn't seem nearly as customer oriented as they should be..
The situation is this: First, NightHawk is still nowhere in sight, way off schedule, even though many of us infused the company with extra cash by pre-purchasing it, under the impression it would be ready by October. Still no hint as to when it will be ready. My God, they're still soliciting feature requests, so how close to production can it be?
Then we can't get an update to the current software. Weeks after Leopard's final release, the two features one typically uses most don't work. And work still hasn't begun to bring this app into compatibility, as we're told the company is still assessing how much work it would be to do it. No idea when, or even if, they will do it at all. The tone doesn't sound very promising.
But I think what really gets me bothered enough to write is that we were not given the courtesy of an email warning us of this. So I installed Leopard this morning without the benefit of this bad news... now it's too late. Only after we discover a problem and get to the site for help are we advised not to install Leopard if we need the missing features.
Of course users could investigate every piece of software they own before installing a new system, but one is reasonable to expect that commercial software companies are working reasonably fast to make their products compatible—or notify us as soon as they see a problem. Maybe in this case somebody's too busy, instead, designing special forms to make sure nobody EVER manages to sneak by and get a free piece of support advice.
I understand and share your frustration with NUDC/Nighthawk delays.
But I disagree with you on one point: It *is* the responsibility of the end user to make sure required software is compatible with Leopard prior to upgrading. I'm in the midst of doing this now, and NUDC is not my only required app that isn't fully compatible with Leopard.
Tiger works just as well as it did two months ago, although I do look forward to playing with Leopard's new toys.

Following the release of Leopard, we released a Now Up-to-Date & Contact 5.3.2 beta 1 and are about to release the beta 2. It addresses the incompatibilities introduced with Leopard. NUDC 5.3.2b1 is available for download. Please remember this is beta software and is still undergoing testing and bug fixing. We recommend that you do a full backup of your NUDC databases before proceeding. For status please see the other threads on this forum.

We sent out a newsletter about Leopard compatibility to all users who have registered to receive it. The text of that newsletter is also posted on our site. We don't send unsolicited email, per our published email policy.
If you've not already done so, please register to receive our newsletter. We don't send them often, and they usually contain good information about what's going on. This forum is also a good place to receive the latest news.

The first beta is working just fine to address the QD/QC menu bar problems.
I'm not using the server version so that may still be an issue.
I hear you on the Nighthawk complaint. I too feel I got rather ripped-off. Essentially I floated a loan - on good faith - to a company who has not delivered.

With respect kenstee, no you didn't! I understand the frustration (10 fold - I don't have any PIM available that I can use on my Mac, as not even NUDC suits my needs), but what you actually did was agree to pay in advance for a product that you knew wasn't even in beta yet, in return for a discount vs the release price. You were lucky to have that option - as a non owner of NUDC, I don't get that luxury.
Yes, you could argue that at the time release was expected to be a lot earlier than is proving to be the case, but I can't believe anyone went into that deal not understanding that software development sometimes (actually I'd say nearly always) goes into delay. It's in the nature of the beast, and I'd rather that than suffer what some others do and be part of an unwilling alpha test team. Now have done a pretty good, though not perfect, job of keeping us informed, and I'd assume that if you asked them for your "loan" back they'd give it too you, so long as you were willing to give up your discount.
Expressing disappointment I understand, but anyone accusing Now of ripping them off should remember that the delay must be hurting them more than it hurts us, and so cannot be part of some scheme to diddle us. I doubt they're selling too many copies of NUDC; how many people buy a car now, knowing the model is going to be upgraded next week, and anyway it's an ageing and unappealing product for a new user. They're increasingly having to spend time answering these types of complaints. And they're also having to continue support/development of a product which should, frankly, have been retired by now (yes yes; retired with support for existing users, of course).
I hate the delay, and want NH now, but still respect Now's right to delay release in pursuit of bug free products.
