I installed nudcm 5.31 onto an Intel mac mini (completely updated to OS X 10.4.10). I installed the Now Server Manager, yet when I try to launch it I get:
"Now Up-to-Date & Contact appears to be damaged and should be reinstalled from the original installer. Error -5000"
This is a fresh install. Im a bit of a newbie so maybe it's something simple like it not knowing what to serve up?
First go to HD/Applications/Utilities and run the Disk Utility program. In Disk Utility select the HD and under First Aid click to verify and repair permissions. You might also have to do a Get Info on your contact file and check the ownership and permission settings. Change them to read & write and make sure it is unlocked. If still getting the access error, go to HD/User/Home/Library/Preferences and move the Now Contact prefs and Now Up-to-date prefs folders to the desktop, then try launching the program. If still not working, run the Uninstall command in the Extras folder in the installer, reboot after the uninstall, then reinstall the program.
The bit about the contact and calendar files, and the Now Up-to-Date and Now Contact prefs, does not likely apply in this case. But, the permissions repair does. I do suggest re-starting after the permissions repair, as well.

Validated that perms are fine, prefs are fine. There is no contact file yet, this was a completely clean install on a fresh OS install.
Turns out this error occurs when installing as a non-admin user (even though it does authenticate and does install). If I change the user to an admin user, install (after a remove), then change the user back to a non-admin, it works. I can't try rebooting and letting it startup that way right now because there are users on it.
Now Server Manager, due to the level at which it functions, needs to be installed under a user with admin access. Since it does not normally have to be accessed by the user, or set to start from LoginItems or StartupItems, you should still be able to have it running on the same machine.
