I've been on the phone many times but what happens is they go through a routine of feeble excuses such as that they "can't bring user details up" at that time so could you phone back, "checks being made on the line that will resolve everything by next Wednesday" (and then things getting even worse on that very day), or that "there's a temporary slow down for maintenance work" and all bollocks like that...all these guys are talking to you from India - in reality they haven't got a clue what's going on. This is Pipex that used to be recommended by Apple in the old days when they were owned by Cable and Wireless but who a couple of years ago were taken over by well know Italian technology charlatans Tiscali - you just knew it would end like this.

Next time you talk to them pretend you're in the Soapbox, they won't know what hit them.
There has to be some other alternative. If your DSL is bad do you have cable or satellite available?

I've already tried being reasonable but the reaction was, indeed, rather like being in the soapbox.
As regards alternatives there's no satellite or cable option in my area but I might be better off with BT Broadband on the same line. That would mean ditching the email address I've been using for the last 25 years so it would be a big step.
