Since they are becoming less expensive, they seem to be becoming a viable option for replacing failed standard drives. Not that I'm planning on doing this in quite some time, but it is an intriguing concept to contemplate should the need arise. The question that I have is, will an SATA II SSD work in my MacMini, 2.0 GHz Core2Duo machine? Looking at Wikipedia, that seems to indicate that it would in concept. Just something geeky that I began considering after reading about lower cost SSDs coming onto the market.

If I ever get the HD replaced in my iMac I think I'm going to get one as well.
Probably one of the best bang for your buck upgrades you can get these days.
Reboot, you ever put an SSD in an iMac? I saw a video of someone who did it, but they had to modify the 3.5" sled so that the SATA cable would reach the drive.
Note that the new "cheap" Intel SSD operates about half as fast as the OWC drives.
True, for write speeds, but they are still about 3 or 4 times faster than a standard HD. The write speed of the OWC is over twice as fast as the Intels, but the read speed is close.
Never have done it to a computer though, I live vicariously through you guys.

hehe …yea, the main reason I'm interested in the super fast write (at least for my iMac) is so that when the RAM fills up it can be swapped out as fast as possible to the HD. My machine can only utilize 3GB of RAM
