Well, the one young lady is 18 -- old enough to get married, drive a car, and be handed a gun and sent to war. At what age would you guess she would be able to comprehend the implications of her own sexuality?
Regardless, to cancel the entire event simply because she wanted to wear a tux instead of (one presumes) a dress of some sort is pretty darn silly. I remember at my senior prom two young ladies went stag together and dressed in tuxes, just to be goofy ... and amazingly the building didn't implode, so go figure =P
In this case, she'd probably been okay if they just showed-up instead of asking the school's permission as to who would be an acceptable date ...
