OK, so for some reason, I decided to try and change permissions on this volume I use for files here at the office. This didn't work at all, and now most of the machines can't access the volume.
There are no server settings for groups and the like, it's just an old G4 with a firewire drive attached. How can I make it so that the drive is set for EVERYONE to have read/write access?
Here's what it looks like now:
Which seems fine to me, but some of the workstations can't access it.
Can you just wipe it and start over? Or does it have too many files on it. They should be backed up somewhere though, right?
Things look like they should work. What happens when they try to access it, does it even show up as a shared drive? Or does it mount but they can't write to it? When all else fails try a reboot.

Yeah, there's a backup. I've got a drive that's an exact copy from midnight last night. If it comes down to it, I'll use Disk Utility to do a restore before I leave tonight. But I was hoping I could avoid that.
It's got two network copier/scanners that send files to it, six or seven Windows XP and Vista boxes, and five Macs that share files over it. Only one of the Macs logs in with the same credentials as the file server.
The volume is just a big-A 1TB drive that I've been using for quite awhile now. I've used Sharepoints (at your recommendation, thanks!) to set it up to share with Windows boxes and stuff, so if I can save the volume name, that would be nice. I tried just renaming the backup, but that didn't work.
Okay, I see, a lot of different users log in. If you clicked the apply to enclosed items it may have fubarred things that were set up with Sharepoints.

I was trying to see if the fact that the 10.5 and 10.6 Macs wouldn't do the TM to this volume was permissions related. I accidentally changed permissions using one of those machines instead of the server because I had like four remote machines on my desktop.
Whatever. My coffee wasn't kicking in yet. :P
I'm just going to start a restore from the backup when I leave tonight.
