MEXICO CITY - Gay couples lined up in the Mexican capital Thursday to get a date to tie the knot as the city becomes the first in mostly Catholic and typically macho Latin America to allow same-sex marriage.
The law, now in effect after being approved by the city's mainly left-wing legislature in December, goes beyond current law allowing same-sex civil unions to give gay couples the same marriage rights as straight couples, including adoption.

The drug violence in Mexico is a direct result of demand for drugs right over the border--plus, of course, the export of lots and lots of guns from the US. Stop the demand over here, control the illegal trade in guns over here--and things might be very different. Or, even better, make certain kinds of drug use legal here . . . .

I thought DOMA would be repealed by now. I was surprised to see gay statesmen Barney Frank and John Berry believe it will be quicker to overturn DOMA through constitutionality lawsuits rather than trying to overturn it via congress. There are three strong lawsuits going on right now that may provide that overturn. .

I was only referring to this single issue, not the whole enchilada !
They're awful as far as govt. corruption, drug violence (but we share the blame), and human rights issues, environmental issues, work place safety, etc.
