Are you getting it from HERE ? I just tried and it dl'd in a few seconds. Now, if you are having slow dls of files via Bittorent, that all depends on the number and quality of the other clients that are available and which are sharing.
Yeah, I've tried to use it lately, and it seems a bit wonky. It seems to only want one download at a time, and then that one eventually grinds to a halt, or generates an error, which can only then be cured by a re-start. I'm thinking it has issues with SL.

It has been a while since I tried it. I just tried it on a small file and it threw up an error and stopped downloading 25% through when a packet was determined to be corrupt, rather than tossing the packet and re-downloading. But just on general principal I wouldn't use it anyway, a lot has changed in the torrent field in 3+ years.
Also Vuze has tons more options, limiting up and down speeds by torrent, proxy settings and much more.
