I was not comparing FW to HTML5 at all - not even close
I was pointing out that Apple adopts these ports , that seems no one else really wants to adopt . Hence FW seems to be fading away and I am seeing less and less of QT web content as well .

Sigh. I'll try it another way. Firewire was Apple's invention, HTML5 wasn't. I don't see what FW has to do with this at all. FW is a physical port on a computer, a method of I/O. It is still used on video cameras with different names such as IEEE 1394 and iLink.
HTML5 is a programming language being developed by a lot of people, and not started by Apple, also it's not a hardware technology, plus they are smart enough to know it's the upcoming thing in internet and not just a fad,
You're comparing Apple's to Oranges, plus FW has been adopted industry wide, especially in video, so you're wrong about that. Every video processing customer I have uses FW heavily. It is used as the output on low and high end video equipment, so it's a technology that was adopted industry-wide.
I still don't see what FW has to do with HTML5 at all, but you'll never admit you're wrong so I'm done with this.

I see where the confusion is coming - no arguments here
Your responding to this

Ahh - ohhh - ahh
Just seems like when Apple trys these new data thingys - They lose
Maybe now since Apple does have a greater user base - just maybe but a long shot . If MicroSoft don't get on board just call it a dead duck . Like all the others .
1 - I never said Apple created it 2 - If MS does not get on board , its a dead duck .
I am going with MS strong arming its own tech for the benefit of their 95% of user base , in this case Silver lite over HTML5
As for FW Apple dropped it off the MacBook line , still there with the Pros , iMac and Mini - Seems to me more are going with USB 2.0 and the eventual 3.0 when ever that comes out - Hence It think its going to fade away .
Dell oddly makes no mention of ports of any kind , maybe I did not find it ? Interesting HP has FW ports on their high end laptops which they call IEEE 1934 , HDMI . The lower end laptops they use the term additional ports <-- sounds to me optional only because the FW is lopped in with the number of USB ports not punched out into a different line item .

The chances of Flash and actionscript becoming irrelevant are nil and zero. There's a lot of primetime animation done in Flash. So long as it's being done as much as it is on the TV, you'll see it on the web, too. It needs to be on the iPad.

Flash has it's place …but not in video distribution (where the majority of Flash on the web is used)
Just a note …Adobe has created their own Flash to iPhone conversion kit. They have the power to take all those wonderful games and export them out as apps for the iPhone. THAT is going to be the way these Games, etc. get on the iPhone …I really don't think you'll see Flash as a Safari plugin.

Flash has a VERY solid place in web video. The view you're touting is pretty much the same as what people used to say about javascript (and coincidentally, actionscript, the scripting language of Flash, is part of the same ECMAScripting standard as javascript), and is generally perpetuated by people who abuse it (again, same as javascript). To state that it has no place in web video is gross absolutism and just plain incorrect.
Again, the iPad needs Flash. And it isn't about Flash. It isn't about security. It isn't about resource usage. It's about Apple. Apple won't add it, because they want consumers to buy content through them, and support their formats. Developers will port Flash content and games only because they're forced to. This will result in a lot of content being available in Flash that isn't available for Apple devices, and puts an unfair strain on those developers.
