I think quality of character should be the main deciding factor for adoption, not sexuality. Better to have kind, loving gay parents than abusive heterosexual parents.

Thats not the point
When it comes to a (tie) the hetros should get the kid - or let the kid decide .
Sure we can make up stories that the hetros are mass murderers - yada yada yada - Fact of the matter that they are well (Vetted) much unlike those temporary Foster Homes <-- even thats not easy , well here anyway .

That is true
I am just saying after the vetting process and it comes to a tie , the straight parents should win . If the gay couple comes out ahead , then certainly give them the adoption .

That's a very ignorant case for gay marriage if you don't mind my saying so - I can't see any court being taken in by that nonsense... when he says:
"Denying gays and lesbians the right to marry is no different than denying black people the right to sit in a "whites only" section of the restaurant"
he needs to understand that the two things are completely different. Denying a black person the right to sit in part of a restaurant is discriminatory because admission depends on race. Marriage by contrast is open to everyone. What would be the same is someone saying "a few of us don't like restaurants so we insist on you turning it into a cocktail bar". And his point "In my own city, there have been terrible hate crimes" - what's that got to do with it?

Do you really think a young child — especially one who hasn't had the benefit of a loving family on a day-to-day basis — is capable of making such a life-changing decision?
