I told my son yesterday that when I buy a blue ray player I want it to have a VHS player as well. He laughed at me. But it's like keeping my old turntable for all the albums I have.

I saw a vcr/blueray/dvd triple combo at Walmart for under $200 about 2 weeks after xmas. I started to get it right then & there. When I went back a few days later they had sold out. So mad at myself for "waiting." mad

Going back this week to check out their blueray/dvd double combos. Right now I am in the "just pricing" mode. I have no immediate need for a blueray player.

I saw both in the theatre & fell asleep through both movies. Very boring. To this day, I have no idea the meaning of the apes, the monolith or the floating fetus.

When the movies came on cable I tried to watch again & changed the channel. For some strange reason I thought HAL was the best part of both movies from the little bit I've seen.

2001 was about evolution coming full circle despite man's best efforts to control it through technology. First time I saw it, I was stoned. Second time I wasn't, but left the theatre stoned on the movie. laugh

2010 was a total bust. Dumb, dumb, dumb...

See, SciFi movies that makes you "think" bores me. Just entertain me, gore me out a little or lot, scare the sh!t out of me, show some action, that is all I ask. Took 3 tries for me to understand a "little bit" the Matrix trio. The action scenes kept me fully awake & entertained! laugh

Heres what I think

the monolith is the alien space craft

the apes was the dawning of man via the use of tools (clubbing each other with bones)

the embryo was the image of new life - Jupiter turns into a star
