I've always got ideas, once in blue moon they work out too.
1. Can you Print to PDF, then print the PDF? Not just as a work around, but trying to determine where it's failing.
2. Open Console, All Messages, and see if anything comes up at the time you send the print job. Do you see anything about an ATS (Apple Type Services) failure of any kind that doesn't show up when you print to a browser?
3. What happens in the print monitor window when it fails, does the job even show up?
Sounds like a web page accidently got into the print que. I'd say try going to system preferences, printers, select any printer, select its que and remove and delete any web pages. I did have that problem once myself when accidently hitting "print" when a web page was the active window.
