8GB iPhone 3G with OS 3.0 and jail broken.
The issue im having is the sound works when it wants too. It's not set on silent and the volume is all the way up. The ringer, key clicks and so fourth but if I play a game or use youtube there is no sound. Come to think of it the volume slider isn't shown in the youtube app. If I reboot the phone the sound comes back but for a short while. I'm thinking some API is crashing and causing the sound to mess up. If anyone has some input on this im all ears.
The problem is, you have it jailbroken, which could have caused the problem. I think the one sure way to tell if it's the cause is to restore and then see if you have the problem. Kinda extreme, but I don't know of any other way to tell.
When was the last time you turned it off? When you say "reboot", is that you turning it off and then back on or are you doing something else?

Reboot as in turning the phone off, wait 60 seconds then turn it back on. It could be because it has been jailbroken but this problem started recently and i've been using my custom image for about a few months now.
You could try (if you have SBSettings installed) turning off all the dylibs and then turning them on one by one to see if one of them is the culprit. I had a problem briefly with no audible ringtone, but it was one beta version of iRealSMS that was causing it, and the next beta sorted it.
