Hey, I just got back from vacation to find that my G5 is not booting. When I turn it on I get the fans on at full blast after a weird chime noise. The power light blinks (its the white one) all the while.
this happened when I first got it in april all I had to do to get it to boot was reseat the ram. I tried this todday and it still won't boot.
what can I do? I need this comp my G4 is slow as hell
BTW its a Powermac G5 Dual-core 2.3 with 2 gigs of ram
The service manual has a list of symptoms and testing procedures. Closest to yours says to start by reseating the video card., reset PRAM, then reset the logic board. Then it says to start replacing parts. Also worth checking the PRAM battery is putting out the correct voltage. Should be 3.3-3.6V. I would also try removing RAM if you have more than two modules. Look for changes in the symptoms.
