The zip drive in my G4 sawtooth is now ballast and it would be handy to put an extra hard drive in its place. I recall connecting a HD to the ATAPI ribbon connector once in an emergency, and it read fine -- but will the computer read and write consistently and reliaby in this configuration? Thanks....
It will work fine. Jumper it like the ZIP was (probably either slave or c/s). If 120 GB is enough storage for you then you'll avoid the issues required to run the larger drives. If you're going to be using the drive a lot you should get a drive with an 8MB cache and you might want to invest in a new 80-wire ATA cable.
