I'm about to purchase a dual-core 2.3 ghz powermac G5 but it does not come with the power cable and the seller says that that model requires a special power cable, is this true? or does it just use normal computer power cables?
Could somebody please tell me just why Apple had to do that? Aside from from the fact that they are being Apple and proprietary cables&adaptors are their thing, that is. >_<
This is actually not a proprietary cable, it is an IEC 60320 C19, the big brother of the normal computer power connector (IEC 60320 C13). The reason they used this connector is because the PowerMac G5 needs more power than the normal computer power connector is allowed to provide.
