Hi guys, I,m hoping there is someone out there who can help me get a bloody disk out of my imac ;-[ Its a bubble bottom and i have tried everything apart from sticking a screwdriver in the drawer..... Ok i have tried..... Pressing the media eject button File eject in finder Moving the disc in finder 2 trash Restarting using the mouse Forcing quit Forcing it to turn off manually ps I am not a very knowledgable about computers
Does it have a manual eject (paperclip hole)? I've never dealt with this problem on an iMac G4, but I imagine that behind the drive door, there exists a manual eject.
If you are careful, you can pry open the white door of the iMac case, then behind it, you can pry open the CD drawer. Use a wide flat blade screwdriver, or a scraping tool. Best done with the unit powered off.
Don't tell people unfamiliar with this sort of thing to take apart their drive! Never mind that they have to take apart their computer first to get the drive out!
Aside from the fact that this is kinda an old tread that you resurrected here john, (I agree to try a paperclip btw)due to a lack of response from the original poster I think it is safe to assume they got their issue solved.
