Hello everyone, I bought a 17" Powerbook G4 for $25! its in perfect working condition, i want to mod it and add a touchscreen. I was looking on ebay and saw a 17" touchscreen kit for less $100, i was wondering if anyone had any tutorials on how to go about doing this? I bought it for an unbelievable price, so it wont hurt to try this... Thank you!
Welcome to MacMod first of all. In order to use another touchscreen there is quite a bit to consider. Drivers, pin out configuration for the wiring and mount points.
Honestly, your best bet is going to be to try and put a trolltouch component over it or maybe even taking the touch component from the waccom. There was another tread on this recently. And there are multiple threads on the trolltouch.

Check out the other auctions by that seller. I believe the link you sent is for the 3:4 sized screen, You need the widescreen version, which that seller does seem to carry. Check the measurements to be sure. Otherwise it looks like it will work just fine. Also be aware of the differences in capabilities between a touch screen and a tablet. This is a touchscreen. But that's a larger discussion.
Do you think its worth putting a touchscreen on it?... i mean im not going to use the laptop for anything important, i just thougth it would be cool to add a touch screen...
I dont know if this is possible, but here are some photos of one thing im trying to do... I want to make the slot on the side of the powerbook a little bigger so that it can fit an ipod touch, i want to be able to slide it in so that it connects to the charger. I have no experience with messing with wires and all this other good stuff, lol, how can i connect the charger to the USB from inside the powerbook??? ...Can anyone help?
