a few months ago I got a free Macinrosh IIcx. I would keep it classic and not cut on it but I already have a full IIci setup. what I really want to do with this Case is Modernize the hardware. I want an Intel Core Duo @ around 2Ghz. I really want the IIcx to be how it was originally made to be.

this is what I want:

*Intel Core Duo Motherboard @ at least 2GHZ
*at least 2-4GB of RAM (upgradeable)
*256MB non-shared video
*slot loading 16X superdrive
*Bluetooth and Airport or airport equivalent
*USB 2.0 and firewire Ports in front
*SD card Slot in front (still debating that one)

I do realize it would take alot of fabrication but I think it would be a sweet mod. What do you guys think?

Pretty much, I think if I went with a Mac pro logicboard It would be too costly and it may not fit.

well, you could always take the mac mini route and come out pretty cheap, and it would def fit and even leave you room inside for more goodies...

I do kinda like that idea but the only really bad thing is that you can only upgrade to 2GB of RAM and the video card is not upgradeable.

true, thats the tradeoff. But its still a pretty solid machine and its cheap and easy. You could always take the OSX86 route I guess. I would check out the wiki at...

http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/Main_Page

they should have some information on compatible hardware and everything else you would need to know there. You could also look into that efix usb device. I have been wanting to see someone use that thing and give some opinions.

I have found a motherboard and processor setup that would fit in the case. my new problem is the power supply. I found an ultra compact power supply but it is only 200 watts do you guys have any idea of where I can find a power supply that is at least 300 Watts and is low profile (smaller than the average power supply)?
