I have a PowerBook G4 17" that has gone through 2 screens! I gave up and bought an external monitor. Now, since I'm addicted to the trackpad, I want to remove the screen and use the powerbook directly in front of the monitor as a keyboard and use the trackpad.
I don't know how to take off the screen, and if everything will work how I want to.
I hear a lot about this magnet thing and mine has already been disabled by the mac lab that installed my monitor. So when I close the lid, it does not go to sleep like it should.
Does anyone have instructions on how to remove the screen and make it headless? and if it should still work as a keyboard and trackpad?
seems so simple and I search everywhere and find all sorts of stuff that are almost what I'm describing but then lack instructions!
If you want to get your hands dirty, so to speak, you could follow guides to remove the top case and once it is off find a way to mount the antennae, maybe you could fill in the are where the hinge is with some epoxy and put them in that. Here's a link to a take apart guide:
Another issue do you currently have the powerbook set to the external video port. if so good however if not and you upgrade your os to leopard using leopard assist the computer will extend the desktop across two monitors not one monitor.
