Media: PSP - UMD - 1.8GB capacity DS - Cartridge 1 gigabit (Note: 8 gigabits = 1 gigabyte, so PSP UMD discs hold about 14 x as much as the DS cartdridge)
Wireless: PSP - IEEE 802.11b (Wi-Fi) up to 11Mbps - 16 players DS - IEEE 802.11 (Wi-Fi) up to 2Mbps - 16 players
Battery Life: PSP - 2.5 hours watching UMD movies - 3-6 hours playing games (depending on brightness and multiplayer function) DS - 6-10 hours playing games
Features: PSP - USB 2.0 port - Analog stick - JPG pics - MP3 music - MPEG4 video DS - Touchscreen - Compatible with Game Boy Advance - Built in microphone
And also for the record, the iphone has a significantly faster processor than either the DS or the PSP. And from the looks of monkeyball it can render 3D quite well.
Memory: PSP - 32MB - 4MB DRAM (plus memory stick) DS - 4MB iPhone - 128MB (this isn't published by Apple, so this was a calculation from a developer I found)
Media: PSP - UMD - 1.8GB capacity DS - Cartridge 1 gigabit (Note: 8 gigabits = 1 gigabyte, so PSP UMD discs hold about 14 x as much as the DS cartdridge) iPhone - 8GB or 16GB
Wireless: PSP - IEEE 802.11b (Wi-Fi) up to 11Mbps - 16 players DS - IEEE 802.11 (Wi-Fi) up to 2Mbps - 16 players iPhone - IEEE 802.11b/g (Wi-Fi) up to 54Mbps
Battery Life: PSP - 2.5 hours watching UMD movies - 3-6 hours playing games (depending on brightness and multiplayer function) DS - 6-10 hours playing games iPhone - 7 hours of video, who knows what games would take.
Features: PSP - USB 2.0 port - Analog stick - JPG pics - MP3 music - MPEG4 video DS - Touchscreen - Compatible with Game Boy Advance - Built in microphone iPhone - it's a friggin iPhone!
Well, the iPhone seems to me to be better in almost every respect. This just might be the best portable gaming system to ever hit the market!
two things blow my mind....the fact that Nintendo can create such great games on the DS with such a slow processor (i love my DS) and that the iPhone has such a powerfull processor.
Definitely Apple had their eye on the PDA market all along when they created this phone.
I believe the DS has a second 33MHz processor. Oddly sysinfo reports my iPhone CPU at 412MHz.
Apparently the iPhone CPU has a variable clock speed depending on what's going on. Some apps run it faster than others. That's one way that they try to save battery life on a portable device.
The Apple iPhone is three devices in one: a cell phone, a wide-screen iPod with touch controls, and an Internet communications device. AT&T (formerly Cingular) is the lucky carrier in the United States.
Both Apple and AT&T stores started selling the original iPhone on June 29, 2007. The second-generation iPhone 3G went on sale July 11, 2008, and by the end of the year Apple has promised that it will land in 70 countries. With a two-year AT&T contract, the new iPhone 3G is $199 for the 8GB model and $299 for the 16GB model.
As usual with Apple gear, the iPhone breaks some design boundaries. Say goodbye to traditional cell phone buttons; the iPhone is all touch screen, all the time. With only one hardware control (a Home key), iPhone's real estate is dominated by a huge, 3.5-inch display. Inside you'll find an iPod music and video player, a full Safari Web browser, a 2-megapixel camera and integrated support for Google Maps. And yes, it makes calls too.
